My desire was to create a world, a sense of place, after a circus leaves town.
Consider, if for just a moment, a small rural town maybe in the late 20's. The summer has been hot and the circus has come and gone.
You waited with great expectations for the day the colorful wagons would roll into town bringing with them clowns, exotic dancers, premier performers, amazing oddities and incredible animals.
And now, overnight, they are gone. A stillness sets in and the winds come, the economy takes a tumble and life as you know it has changed.
Yet
The belly of this story is really about the cycles of life and it's ever changing elements.
What intrigues me is the driving force to survive under any circumstance, whether fragile, turbulent or mundane.
There always seems to be a path, sometimes quite obvious, sometimes difficult to perceive.
